Our mission was to establish if it is technically possible, safe and convenient to replace natural gas (methane) with hydrogen in residential and commercial buildings and gas appliances. This will enable the government to determine whether to proceed to community trial.

7 March 2023, Evaluation of Hy4Heat programme published

An evaluation report has been published into the Hy4Heat programme.

26 April 2022, Final Hy4Heat Report Published

A final report has been published covering covering activity in 2021 and early 2022 including: the safety assessment and appliance and meter development. It has a foreword from Mark Taylor, BEIS Deputy Director for Energy Innovation and an introduction letter from Arup Hy4Heat Director Mark Neller.

20 December 2021, videos shown at COP26 featuring hy4heat, now published

Videos featuring manufacturers and other partners from Hy4Heat and showing some of the hydrogen appliances developed have been published. These videos were shown at the Innovation Zone at COP26 in Glasgow.
